Ouch!
Today I decided to get going on some much needed mending. My favorite gardening outfit needed some patching so I fired up my trusty sewing machine and got started. Just as I was nearing the completion of my little project I broke the needle. I hate it when that happens. I replaced the needle with a brand new sharp one and hadn't gone very far when I felt a bit of something hit my right eye. About the same time I heard a loud ping and bam there went the second needle. I thought it was a bit odd that I felt something hit my eye before the needle broke but when I took it out to look at it I realized that the sharp little point was missing. Yikes! You remember the rhyme that we used to say as little girls? We would swear to never tell a lie, stick a a needle in my eye? Well now I am feeling creeped out thinking ...what if that piece of the needle is stuck in my eye? My eye does feel a bit weird and irritated, though that could be my over active imagination.
My husband thinks I am totally paranoid now because I made an appointment with my eye doctor to get it checked out tomorrow. It could be nothing or just a scratch but I feel the need for a little reassurance that all is well.
Course he thought the same thing when I told him I had stepped on a needle while making draperies and that I thought it was still stuck in my foot. Imagine his surprise when years later as I was getting x-rays prior to foot surgery my doctor said, "Gee it looks like you have a needle stuck inside your foot!" Sure enough there it was. During the surgery my doctor tried to remove it but after all that time it had become soft and mushy so he was only able to get part of it out. I have to accept part of the blame for that. My anesthesia was wearing off so I had started moving around and trying to get off the table so he had to call it quits.
Anyway as a result of my little mishap I never did made it outside to do my gardening. Besides "maybe" having a needle in my eye ...it started to rain.
